Frequently asked
I lost my sync passphrase
It cannot be recovered: that is what end-to-end encryption means, and nobody — us included — can decrypt your data without it. You can delete the account from the app (Settings ▸ Sync) and start again with a new passphrase. The host list on your devices is untouched.
Does one purchase cover Mac and iPad?
Yes. A single purchase covers both, through Apple's purchase sharing.
How do I use my SSH keys?
Import them from a host's settings (Authentication ▸ Private key ▸ Import). Select the private key and its .pub file at the same time if you want to be able to install it on a server. They are kept in the system Keychain.
Ping does not answer
ICMP is often filtered, and the App Store sandbox blocks it on Mac. Passerelle then falls back to a TCP test automatically, which answers the real question: is the machine reachable.
Which key types are supported?
ed25519 and RSA. ECDSA is not read by the library in use; generate an ed25519 key instead (ssh-keygen -t ed25519).
Is Telnet safe?
No, and it cannot be: Telnet travels in the clear. It is there only for switches and older equipment that offer nothing else. Keep it to a trusted local network.
